Fantastic show from Netflix. Most of the concept here is in the title treatment. The lead character, Beth Harmon, an orphan, and chess prodigy, struggles with alcoholism and pill abuse. Early in life, she finds that the depressants she is given help her think clearly about chess problems. She envisions the chessboard above her on the ceiling. My title reflects the chess pieces and their position relative to her substances. The drugs and booze turn her upside down, but help her see the chessboard clearly...
The illustration is a Procreate painting I did based on publicity stills from the show. The background is a chess board, but the colors were chosen because they are the colors of her pill capsules. If you have not seen this go and watch it now.
